La cinta del director tapatio Guillermo del Toro, La Forma del Agua, contiende para siete Globos de Oro en el evento que se llevará a cabo el próximo mes de febrero.
Dichos premios, otorgados por la prensa extranjera a lo mejor del cine y la televisión de este año tendrán su transmisión el próximo 7 de enero a las siete de la noche en un evento conducido por Seth Meyers.
La Forma del Agua contiende por los siguientes premios:

En la categoría de Mejor Película Cómica o Musical compiten El Artista del Desastre (2 nominaciones), ¡Huye! (2 nominaciones), El Gran Showman (3 nominaciones), Yo, Tonya (2 nominaciones) y Lady Bird (4 nominaciones)
En Mejor Película Animada competirán El Jefe Bebé, The Breadwinner, Coco, Ferdinand y Loving Vincent. Coco y Ferdinand competirán también por Mejor Canción Original para una película.
